XC40 Volvo’s First Ever Electric Car

The XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, Volvo's first electric vehicle, is now available in Malaysia with a price tag RM262, 000. The Volvo XC40 is a formidable competitor in the market for compact luxury SUVs. The XC40 finds a good balance between comfort and cruising smoothness, and it provides luxury SUV appeal in a small-car compact. Passengers may appreciate the quirky, minimalist cabin as well as the competent infotainment system as a result. The T5 is the most powerful model, with 248 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive.

Every XC40 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces either 184 or 248 horsepower. The engine of the XC40 is paired with an 8-speed Automatic Gearbox with Geartronic and consists of an all-wheel-drive system. With a strong engine capable of 252 hp and 350 Nm, it has a high rate of acceleration. With an 8-speed automatic transmission, you may experience a smooth shifting and less jerks in your driving. The steering wheel feels light in the normal setting but hefty in sport mode. It also has a good turning radius, making it agile on some uneven routes. The Volvo XC40 has a mileage of around 7.7 liters per 100km, which is quite good and inexpensive for a 2.0L engine.

Volvo has long been associated with safety, but the vehicles are also sleek, powerful, and well-equipped these days. The Volvo XC40 comes with City Safety that will provide collision avoidance & mitigation with intersection support pedestrian, cyclist & large animal detection. This SUV also installed with dual stage driver & front passenger airbags, driver’s side Knee airbag, side impact protection system (SIPS) with dual chamber SIPS airbags and full-Length inflatable curtains (IC).

The Volvo XC40 comes with a large 78 kWh battery with a predicted range of 418 kilometers with fully charged. This should not be a problem for XC40 to be the daily drive car. This car takes up to 72 hours to fully charge with a three pin domestic socket. The maximum AC charge rate is 11 kW, which equates to 7.5 hours for a full charge and the maximum DC charge rate 150 kW that will only take 33 minutes to fully charge . Charging time also is affected by a number of factors  including ambient temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition, and vehicle condition.

With reasonable price, attractive appearance and a smooth ride, this SUV from Volvo will be a great competitor in the Malaysian market. Furthermore, it has outstanding interior and features as a premium SUV with good fuel economy.
